AMAZING PHOTOS even more amazing vintage finds

If you haven’t been to see what’s new at 26 Olive Street, I suggest you click your way over there, the second your done reading this. They have some of the cutest, fun vintage finds I’ve seen lately. It’s as if you stepped into the best thrift-shop, flea market, grandma’s house ever. Better yet the photos of their finds are incredible, almost little pieces of art themselves. Sometime I see a little treasure that just really screams, take me home, but I’m never really sure where to put it, I would never have that problem at 26 Olive Street, the combination of photography and prop styling shows me exactly how awesome this will look when i get it home, and give me an idea of exactly where to put it. All in all I will definitly be checking out this shop on a regular basis to see what’s new. Be sure to check out their blog as well.

I MISS LISTENING to the radio

I got rid of my car back in september. While I don’t miss parking tickets and trying to find parking on alternate side parking days, I do miss listening to the radio. Sunday afternoons were always my favorite, I was always coming or going somewhere and would be stuck in traffic listening to Prairie Home Companion. Okay so yes, I am a bit of a nerd, I always really liked old radio shows growing up and this is the closest modern area equivalent. So as an homage to this lovely radio program I bring you my top picks of vintage radios from etsy’s vintage sellers.

radio

A. Tabletop radio from Beloved Bag Lady $34  B. Vintage Lafayette AM-FM Transistor Radio from jadite kate $30  C. Vintage Magnavox Radio with Gold Scrollwork from vixen and prudence $40 D. Zenith from Object Petita $23

LATPTOP CASES from Belgium

I love these laptop sleeves from Black Eyed Sheep. Crocheted from supersoft yarn in a variety of colors there is sure to be something that matches your personality. Maybe a little biased, I received one as a gift for my birthday, but its even better than I imagined. It has enough cushion to keep your laptop safe in your bag, but cute enough to turn some heads and not feel like you have the same case as everyone else in that coffee shop. So if you have been putting off getting something to wrap up your laptop, I suggest you check these out.

BEAUTIFUL bud vases

I wanted to leave everyone with something beautiful this easter weekend. Something clean, pretty and reminiscent of spring. These beautiful bud vases from Ryan Takaba, couldn’t be more perfect. They may be a little on the expensive side, but handmade is definitely worth it! Maybe something to keep in mind for your favorite mom this year. Hope everyone has a great weekend. See you on Monday.

I WISH I WAS IN kup kup land

I love everything kup kup does. It makes me dream of being a kid and all the wonderful things you can imagine making out of little pieces of felt. Fun little brooches, fantastic pin cushions, and so much more from the land of kup kup. Looking at her shop always brightens my day, especially when its raining, I mean how can you possibly feel down when rain clouds look this cute. I wish I spent more time reaching back in time and exploring the things I used to love crafting with as a kid, maybe something this wonderful might come to life.

RENEGADE CRAFT FAIR here we come

I’ve been really excited about the possibility of getting into the Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn this summer. I applied this year with my favorite soapstar (she makes soap she doesn’t star on the now canceled Guiding Light) Michelle from Dirty Loves Clean. The wait was long but last night we found out that we got in! I’m pretty excited, not only is it in my neighborhood, but I’ve always had a little mini-dream of selling there one year. I know some of my other favorite people also got in cakehouseJ Davis StudioiKyotoMiniature Rhino, and quite a few more that are all members of the newnewteam. So if you are in Brooklyn stop by and say hi, June 6 + 7th at McCaren Park.

OH DEER! flocked and ready to hang

Check out these mini flocked deer busts from Johnny and Stacie. Weighing in and just short of a 5 point buck, okay well really short of a 5 point buck, about 5 inches by 3 inches. These little guys are sure to add a little color to your white walls. Handmade and flocked with care and available in a variety of colors to suit any mood. I’m really excited about the process of flocking, and hoping to get to try it out myself soon. If anyone has any pointers they would be willing to share please lay it out in the comments.

FURNITURE INSPIRED by japan

Inspired by Japanese textile and pattern designs, designer Edward Van Vilet has created a line of beautiful furniture for the Italian brand Moroso. Sofas, rugs and puffy chairs all await you, ready to transform your home into a zen garden. The simplicity of his fabrics and the rich color palette just make me want to curl up and relax. In a way they remind me of a complicated quilt, none of them really back each other but they all seem to work together to make something more beautiful than they would be alone. You can check out the rest of the Moroso line, and also check out where you can soon get your hands on a piece for your sanctuary.

COME ON BABY light my fire

Check out these adorable candles from India Rose. The candles and candle holders are one solid piece of beeswax so no need to wipe those wax drips off your favorite candle holder. Available in a variety of colors and sizes, theses are sure to add a bit of color and drama to the simplest white room. They are a tad bit pricey so you might have to save these for a special occasion.

CUT IT out

I am so digging the new home collection from Megan Auman. I really love the simplicity of her  patterns, they are simple and feminine without being overly floral. Created from powder coated steel these laser cut steel pieces are oh so very unique.  It’s refreshing to see such a manly material crafted into something soft and lovely.
