We all love photobooths. Its undeniable. I can’t think of the last time I passed by one and didn’t pop in and get a picture. It’s fun, its cheap, and it makes a memory. Now imagine if you stepped into a photobooth and what came out wasn’t at all what you expected. This photobooth from design team from K to J, also known as Ketra Dean Dixon and J K Keller, have put together a booth that analyzes the photos and make something even more beautiful with them. During the developing process, the photos are “analyzed” & customized with forecasts consisting of patterns, symbols & messages. Maybe the next time you step into your favorite photobooth you’ll get something more than you expected.

If you survive the cuteness factor of these new designer toys, you have me beat. These amazing wood toys from Noferin are beyond words. Noferin is the collaboration of two amazing artists: Candy and Nick. Candy paintings intricate paintings of the make believe Carrara Island and Nick turns these works of art into little wood sculptures. Their previous series of toys have long sold out, but chin up, the newest collection launch next Tuesday, May 5th. So head on over to their site, and add your name to their mailing list so you are sure not to miss out. I mean really who wouldn’t want one of these amazing creatures.

AMAZING PHOTOS even more amazing vintage finds
If you haven’t been to see what’s new at 26 Olive Street, I suggest you click your way over there, the second your done reading this. They have some of the cutest, fun vintage finds I’ve seen lately. It’s as if you stepped into the best thrift-shop, flea market, grandma’s house ever. Better yet the photos of their finds are incredible, almost little pieces of art themselves. Sometime I see a little treasure that just really screams, take me home, but I’m never really sure where to put it, I would never have that problem at 26 Olive Street, the combination of photography and prop styling shows me exactly how awesome this will look when i get it home, and give me an idea of exactly where to put it. All in all I will definitly be checking out this shop on a regular basis to see what’s new. Be sure to check out their blog as well.

RENEGADE CRAFT FAIR here we come
I’ve been really excited about the possibility of getting into the Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn this summer. I applied this year with my favorite soapstar (she makes soap she doesn’t star on the now canceled Guiding Light) Michelle from Dirty Loves Clean. The wait was long but last night we found out that we got in! I’m pretty excited, not only is it in my neighborhood, but I’ve always had a little mini-dream of selling there one year. I know some of my other favorite people also got in cakehouse, J Davis Studio, iKyoto, Miniature Rhino, and quite a few more that are all members of the newnewteam. So if you are in Brooklyn stop by and say hi, June 6 + 7th at McCaren Park.

Trust me, if your computer looks anything like mine, It’s long over due for a little cleaning session. Then when your desktop is looking a little too clean, pick out one of your favorite desktop background calendars over at smashing magazine. Maybe you want to Shake up April with Paul van den Dool. Or Bring it to life with Hannah Kunar. Whatever you choose, it’s sure to be something beautiful!

PLEASE JUDGE A BOOK by its cover designer
We are all guilty of it. Browsing through the bookstore, and something catches your eye, It’s not the words of the brilliant author (or maybe even not so brilliant), it’s the cover design that just stood out against all of those other paperbacks lined up on their respective shelves. Well for some of the best cover designs, by some of the best book cover designers, check out the Book Cover Archive. The book cover archive currently houses over 1000 book covers for the purpose of appreciation and categorization. Hey who knows, maybe something will catch your eye and you’ll find another great read.

FURNITURE INSPIRED by japan
Inspired by Japanese textile and pattern designs, designer Edward Van Vilet has created a line of beautiful furniture for the Italian brand Moroso. Sofas, rugs and puffy chairs all await you, ready to transform your home into a zen garden. The simplicity of his fabrics and the rich color palette just make me want to curl up and relax. In a way they remind me of a complicated quilt, none of them really back each other but they all seem to work together to make something more beautiful than they would be alone. You can check out the rest of the Moroso line, and also check out where you can soon get your hands on a piece for your sanctuary.

TYPOGRAPHERS start your engines
Since you all read up on the rules of typography a few weeks ago, I know you have been dying to design your own font. There are tons of service out there where you can scan in your handwriting and they make a useable font out of it, but fontstruct actually lets you design a modular font from scratch. Use stars, blocks, dots, curves or anything else you can think of to design your own useable font. Check it out, but make sure you have a chunk of time ahead of you because it is addictive.
