HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY!!!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for reading upstatefancy. Don’t worry there is still time for one last find. I’ve been hunting around flickr for photos of Danbo and came across this one by ExcoMedia. Thought this would be a great way to end the year, something simple and serene.

This year has been amazing and I can’t wait to share even more with you in 2010. I will be taking off tomorrow and returning January 1st with the winner of our Holiday Gift Guide Giveaway ( you still have time to enter). I hope you are all able to take some time to log off the computer and spend some quality time with friends and family. Remember who you are and what you represent.

PLAYING PRETEND for grownups

This is seriously awesome! The kymera magic wand is a must have for all of those fantasy bookworms. This little device can control a variety of your electronic devices without any buttons. Just a flick of the wrist and you can chnage channels, skip a song or even turn the volume up for you can watch your favorite Harry Potter movie in style. Granted this gift would be fun for the kids it would also look pretty cool as the only “remote” on your coffee table.

A YEAR OF silly holidays

I’m a sucker for weird holidays, both real and imaginary. I imagine that dirtybandits does as well. Their screen printed calendar is available in 3 different paper types and will keep your schedule full of unusual events. I definitely didn’t know that March was Adopt a Rescued Guinea Pig Month. I love the illustration style on these pieces and everything else they have to offer as well.

I HATE PERFUME but love the names

Sometimes a special scent can just turn the day around. I’m so tired of naming conventions that really don’t mean anything. I think a fragrance can have a life of it’s own and really bring you back to a forgotten memory or whisk you away to someplace exotic and spiritual.  I personally carry a little roll on fragrance with me named Optimism that really does brightens up my day.

A little shop in Brooklyn has taken this idea to a whole new level. CB I Hate Perfume has the most unusual names for its fragrances and packages them in nostalgic little bottles. From Russian Caravan Tea, to At The Beach 1966 there is sure to be something that will be the perfect match for you. I am dying to get to their shop but the snow may just keep me away this weekend.

A NEW WAY TO share your photos

I just discovered this awesome site that can create more mini albums of your photos. Upload 24 of your favorite photos and Memolio will create a little rounded corner booklet for your memories. This would make a great little promo item for trade shows or even wedding favors. There are a lot of places out there now where you can print your photos into books, but I really love the feel of this site and you can’t beat rounded corners.

If tap water was a little more stylish would people buy less bottled water? Faucet Face thinks so. Tap just needs a little makeover. These BPA free glass bottles feature work of several amazing artists ( Seb Lester, Ray Fenwick& Annika Tran) and are sure to fancy-up your tap water next year. Through the month of December these awesome containers are 25% off and will ship out between feb/march. Perfect for that springtime picnic!

LASER CUT animal clock

Stunning. I’m in love with this clock by Japanese designer Takuya Oi. The layers that combine to make an almost shadowbox effect leave me speechless. I always love seeing other work done by designers working with lasers. I find it inspiring and almost pushes me to keep creating. This clock is available at MollaSpace.

MY ZOETROPE knocks my socks off

I love the illustrations by Michelle Cavigliano and her shop My Zoetrope. I had the opportunity of seeing some of her work up close and personal at Bust this last weekend. I really lover her mini art and think it would look great on a mini art wall or even just hanging on a tree. She has some amazing work out there that always seems to make ms smile.
