200th Post!!!!

I just realized this is my 200th post on this blog. We may not be the biggest blog in the world, but we kind of like it that way. As many of you know I also have a small line of fun-tastic things  for your home and yourself called peppersprouts. This week the good folks over at the brightside project are hosting a giveaway for a set of my Classic Silhouette Coasters, So I suggest hopping over there and get yourself in the contest to make your home a little more upstate-fancy. And in honor of my 200th post here I am offering a 20% discount through Friday (10/16/09) for almost everything in my etsy shop (the typographic wall hanging is not included in the sale sorry guys). Just put the code “FANCY200” in the notes to seller an I will refund you the difference after purchase.

TYPEOPHILE FILM FESTIVAL opening title

Check out this amazing video of the opening title from the 5th annual Typeophile Film Festival. It premiered in August at the festival organized by the Portland Chapter of AIGA. The opening titles were produced by Brent Barson, a professor at Brigham Young University and fellow alumnus of Typophile’s Jared Benson and Joseph Pemberton. Seriously this video is simply stunning, take a few minutes and watch it all the way through. You can read more about the making of the film over at the font feed, as well as watch the opening titles from past years. My favorite is the place setting with tasty eats and a cold drink. What’s your favorite part?

FRANK CHIMERO’s stately illustrations

I love a good pun, be it visual or verbal. And these state illustrations by Frank Chimero are no exception. He currently has illustrated 17 different states that are just fantastic. To me, his illustrations mix the feeling of traditional paint on paper with the crispness of vector shapes. And at $20 a pop, you can’t go wrong.

ROCK OUT while stirring pasta sauce?

Remember those rainy days when you were little and you would gather all the pots and pans around the kitchen floor and rock out with a set of wooden spoons? Well why should kids have all the fun? These awesome hybrid spoon-drumsticks will have you playing a full set for (insert you favorite rock band here) in between stirring the Ragu and checking on the garlic bread. You can pre-order now at Amazon.

AUTUMN ADORNMENTS for your hair

I love cute bobbypins. Something with a little flair that will keep the bangs out of my eyes. WHich is why I love these little hair clips from 4 the sparrows nest. They come in a variety of different finishes, there is even one with a little bit of moss on it. Whether you are into antlers, branches, or just something thats a bit more fun than the standard goody brand bobby pin, there is bound to be something that catches your eye in this shop.

COOL PACKAGING for cold beer

After living in New York for the last 6 years, everything seems less expensive when I go to my hometown in Delaware. We stopped by Atlantic Liquors in Rehoboth Beach to pick up a case of Dogfishhead IPA to bring home with us. While we were there we spotted a  sampler pack of beers from the Great Divide Brewing Company, based out of Denver, CO. I know your not supposed to judge a book, or beer, by it’s cover, but this packaging just jumped off the shelf. So we decided to grab that along with our ol’ favorites. I just put a few in the fridge to enjoy tonight after work and I can’t wait to see if it tastes as crisp and cool as the design on the labels.

HI WE’RE IN Delaware

Well actually we are still in Brooklyn but will be traveling to the great state of Delaware later today. I will be selling my peppersprout line at the Lewes Historical Society Craft Fair on Saturday (or Sunday if it rains). I’m actually from Lewes originally, GO VIKINGS!, so it will be interesting to see who I run into this weekend. One of my favorite parts of course is the beach. I really miss living near swimmable water, and hope to very soon be moving a little closer to the ocean. Also looking forward to having some amazing handmade icecream from Kings Ice Cream, and probably a Blizzard from DQ. I worked at the DQ in higschool where we came up with a multitude of blizzard flavors that are not on the menu. Some of them good (Whoppers with Chocolate Dip) and some of them not so great (pickles and pretzels). So if for some odd reason you are in Lewes, Delaware this weekend stop by and say hi!
