NETFLIX for eyeglasses

When I was growing up I always wished I needed glasses. Well last year I finally got my wish and I now sport a pair of lenses while reading and working on the computer. I’ve been thinking about updating my look and getting a new pair of glasses but the ones I always find myself drawn to are way out of my price range. That is until today!

Say hello to Warby Parker. Warby Parker creates boutique quality eyewear at an affordable price ($95.) That in and of itself is amazing, but what makes this company even better… You can pick out five pairs you are interested in and they will ship them to your home (free) and let you try them on and decide which you want to put your prescription in. You ship them back (free) they do all the dirty work and send you your brand new specs! Oh, and if that wasn’t enough they also have a conscious. For every pair you buy they also donate a pair to someone in need! Seriously if you wear glasses, Warby Parker is the only way to go!

ORIGINAL ART from found studio

I had an amazing time at Art Star Craft Bazaar this past weekend. The weather was wonderful, the people were friendly and my booth neighbors were amazing. So today I bring you one of my personal favorite from the festival, Found Studio.

Found Studio is the work of an amazing artist, Kacey Buchanan Stafford. Her mixed media collage paintings come in a variety of sizes and each one is created on a wood “canvas”  so they are ready to hang as soon as you get it home. I can’t even begin to describe the incredible texture each piece has when you get to see it up close, they are just stunning. Found studio also has some really awesome shirts, brooches, magnets and of course the signature ceramic bacon and eggs. I came home with a set of these beauties and Couldn’t be more excited about hanging them on the wall. If you are in the baltimore area and want to check out the work for yourself they will be at the “Pile of Craft” show on June 26.

COME SEE US at art star craft bazaar

I am getting ready to pack up the car and drive down to Philly in a few hours. I hope that I see a few of you tomorrow and Sunday at the Art Star Craft Bazaar at Penns Landing. Matt and I will be working our Peppersprouts booth with some new pins, and whiteboards. Our good friends from KimmChi and Fubabee will right across the aisle from us as well. KimmChi has some awesome screen printed shirts, and Fubabee’s paper goods are just beautiful! Hope to see you there!

ART STAR PICKS: rocks and salt

These handmade hats from Brooklyn designers Rocks and Salt are so great. Of course they are functional, and fashionable, but they are also super unique. Because they are handmade they are all just a little different, and that’s what makes them special. I can almost guarantee when you walk out of art star with your brand new summer hat, someone on South Street is going to stop you and ask you where you got that awesome hat. Scouts honor.

ART STAR PICKS: bubbledog

This coming weekend (May 15 + 16) is the annual Art Star Craft Bazaar in Philadelphia, PA. I’ve been looking forward to selling the Peppersprouts line there for the last few months. My favorite part of doing out of town shows is all the new artists I get to meet and of course the lovely people who put on these events. So this week on the blog I thought I would share some of my favorites that will also be at Art Star this weekend.

First up is the adorable bubbledog. They have a wide range of cute products, from belts, to cards, to adorable totebags. It is going to be hard to keep my money in my apron when passing by their booth. Will you be attending this amazing festival?

I NEVER PROMISED YOU a chair garden

I love this instalation by designer Oki Sato (studio nendo). These beautiful ceramic pieces focus on the story of growing furniture. It’s something I have never thought to deeply about, but all furniture pieces evolve from previous works. As the designer states… “A stool grows a backrest, and becomes a chair. When an armrest sprouts from it, it is an armchair. The stool grows sideways, and becomes a bench, or lengthwise and becomes a lounge chair, or even a bed.” I love the simplicity of these building blocks of craftsmanship.

PECANPALS are back again

You may remember last year when I posted about these amazing designer wood toys called Pecanpals. I got myself one of the all wood versions of Jac-Jac before they sold out.

Well they are back again in a whole new colorway. Check out the new Monochrome Pecanpals from the amazing designers over at noferin. You can pick up a new friend over at My Plastic Heart between now and May 31st to be entered to win some other awesome stuff from Noferin. If I were you I would act fast because these little guys will sell out fast!

YUM YUM cupcake kits

I have a huge sweet tooth. It is sort of my downfall actually. Behold these amazing cupcake decoration kits from the Layer Cake Shop. My personal favorite is the woodland kit, but I think this Hula kit is perfect for your upcoming summer shindig! Just looking at these little kits is making want to bake some cupcakes right now and it’s not even lunchtime yet.
