SIMPLE PORCELAIN VESSELS from Rou Designs

I apologize for the recent lack of updates. I’ve been setting up my new home base in Brooklyn and I am finally up and running. There are still a few boxes to unpack but it should all be settled by the end of the week. I decided that I might work better if I had fresh flowers on my desk so I started looking for a new vase on etsy, after all its good to have some variety. I came across these little vessels from Rou Designs. I love how simple they are and could see a little pod of them hanging out in the corner of my desk, allowing the flowers to add a pop of color. Very very pretty.

TWEET TWEET pretty wood bird coasters

I had a great time this weekend at the SOWA market in Boston. Everyone i met was super nice, and i got to run into and old friend as well. I have a few new things up in the peppersprouts etsy shop today. One of them being a limited edition Boston coaster, the other being the long awaited bird coasters. These little guys have increased in size to 3.75″ in diameter, sure to fit any drink! There are a lot of new things in the works over the next few weeks, holiday goodies, magazine racks, even picture frames. I am very excited to say the least.

ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATIONS to hold up your books

These bookends from auroraleehales are stunning. Each one of her bookends have an original illustration from the artists and are made of solid wood, to keep your books from toppling over. I really like the simplicity of these ink and pen illustrations and the line work is just wonderful. These little guys look great on their own, but look even better in a set, after all the books on the other side of your stack might start getting jealous if it’s not on their side. I for one, hate when my books start to fight, so i picked myself up a hand and a foot bookend, I can’t wait till they get here.

SUPER FUN ILLUSTRATIONS you can use everyday

I love everything from LukaLuka. Her illustrations always put a little smile on my face. It’s nice to Anthropomorphic characters that are still believable, I don’t think I would be caught off guard if one of the animals from her city mug was sitting next to me on the subway. If I ever decided to collect plates my first purchase would definitely be from lukaluka, in the meantime I have my eye on that mug.

YOUR SHELVES really can say something about you

I love these shelves from designer Oscar Nunez. No not Oscar from the office, he’s a really cool designer doing some really cool stuff for Mexico’s Fusca Design. These shelves are inspired from comic book speech bubbles and would look great filled with books or other doodads. Or maybe if you get really creative you can paint words on your wall and hang the shelf in front of it. Either way I really would love to have some of these in my apartment.

SAY GOODBYE to green and black chalkboards

You should never be afraid of color! This new paint from Hudson Paints is sure to add a punch of color, that you can write on. Think about how much more fun math problems would be if they were on a hot pink “blackboard.” The possibilities are endless for this colorful chalkboard paint. Available in 30 different colors, and also available in custom colors if you are looking for something specific. At $25 a quart this would be perfect for that entrance wall to be able to keep up to date on the happenings of your entire clan. I definitely have an idea for this paint using some of my lasercuts, that i will be sharing with you soon!

BROWNS FOSTER HOME and their upcycled birdhouses

While shopping in Bar Harbor last week I hit up my favorite store, Window Panes. If you are going to bar harbor and like small stores with kitchen gadgets and unique housewares, this place can not be missed. One thing that really caught my eye was a wooden birdhouse with an old skeleton key as a perch. They had a few other birdhouses on display and each was a little different and made of upcycled materials. The owner of the store informed me they were made by a group of men with unique challenges that were part of the Browns Foster Home. Recycled Reflections – the birdhouse project was started in 1997 as a creative outlet and a way to reflect on some walks in the Maine woods. It was how all creative endeavors should start, for fun! Each house is created from upcycled materials, old keys, golf clubs, drawer pulls, and each roof is thatched with pine cone shingles. Today it has blossomed into something bigger than ever expected. Thousands of birdhouses have been made and sold. It has nothing to do with the money, It’s about the love of creating something new, something maybe we all need to remember sometimes.

CNC ROUTED TABLE for marbles, kids and modern design

Remember marble run? I used to love that game game as a kid. It was like lincoln logs with a purpose, and i would always build one end so the marbles would just drop out the bottom instead of finishing the course, then of course I would have to search high and low for the marbles that didn’t make it to the end so I could send them all down again. WHich is why I am in love with this table designed by Tineke Beunders and Nathan Wierink of ontwerpduo. They designed this table, as well as all the elements of Room 222 in the famous Dutch Lloyd hotel in Amsterdam, to provide creative interaction with beautiful design for children and of course their parents. This table was engineered and produced by a CNC router, which I’m hoping to design something with very soon. Check out all the elements of Room 222 at Ontwerpduo.com.
