Growing up my dad taught in the local high school (I’ll give a Sarah Palin style shoutout to Cape Henlopen High School). My favorite time of the year was when he would get the new yearbook and bring it home. I couldn’t wait till I would be in Highschool and have my very own yearbook. I loved the haircuts, the jordache jeans, the scrunchies, the senior superlatives, but most of all, I loved the senior will’s. I think i started planning my senior will On my first day of high school. I made mental notes of every inside joke, and funny memory so that I could have them immortalized in print for the world to see ( or at least everyone who coughed up $50 for a yearbook). I never imagined I could see what I would look like in yearbooks though out the decades, but today that dream has come true. I think most any of these pictures would look better than the one that has been engraved forever in my final senior yearbook. Now go make your own.

CHEW ON your own underwear
My corgi Einstein has an unnatural obsession with underwear. In the two years i have known him he has managed to ruin about $300 in bras and underwear. So this find is the perfect fix. These plush underwear chew toys from Casbah Kitten are cute, inexpensive and it now is acceptable to leave your underwear on the floor. She has some great toys for both cats and dogs and is a proud member of efa (etsy for animals) where the profits from their shop goes to animal related charities.

MY FAVORITE BOOK SHELF for my favorite books
I love a good book. Last week I just finished reading one of my favorites (the perks of being a wallflower) for close to the 12th time. Since I read so much my bookshelf is overflowing and my favorite books are getting hidden by bigger newer books. Now I never meant for this to happen, my favorite books are near and dear to my heart and I in no way want them to feel neglected. I want them to feel like part of the family.
And that is why I love the idea behind the custom bookshelf by Mineisclouds. You can take your favorite books and make them the center of attention in any room. And all of your favorites will be lined up and the same height so no one will feel more important then the next. I’m all for equal rights for favorite books.

THIS CHANDELIER is Bananas
Anneke Jakobs is a designer/applied artist who makes beautiful things. Using mostly found objects and reclaimed materials her sense of design revolves around deconstruction and reconstruction and how those two things can create completely different worlds. Her work is not only beautiful but also thought provoking and opens up a world of possibilities for other like minded designers. My favorite piece is her beautiful cardboard chandelier made from deconstructed banana cartons. The best thing is she has provided the instructions so that you too can get b-a-n-a-n-a-s.

HOW TO FALL IN LOVE with a bag
Like any self respecting city girl who lives in a shoe box, I have entirely too many bags. This is just a fact that I have come to live with, and I don’t see things changing anytime soon. With that being said i bring you my new 4 favorite bags (Only 4? — well I have to draw the line somewhere.)
1. Polar Bear Parade 2. Mockingbird clutch 3. Birds on Wire 4. Caramel Tote
I love tiny animal prints and the Polar bear parade bag ($68) handmade by retrofied satisfies my wishes without being too kid-like. I love the added bonus of the key clip inside the bag, as i hate having to dog around for my hefty janitor sized keys when I finally make it home at night.
Continuing on my animal print kick the Mockingbird Handbag ($75 CAN) from prickly pear is just wonderful. Its simple enough for a night out, or everyday use. Its also shallow so I know i would never been hunting for things way down at the bottom.
I have wanted the bird on a wire bag ($68) by puckish for at least 4 years. Its stitched and screen printed in yellow against a brown bag and is screaming your name. The bungee cord straps, and polka-doted lining make this bag really unique.
The handmade classic tote in caramel by madebyhank is definitely my personal favorite. It’s big enough to carry a few books, a couple magazines, keys, gum, wallet and maybe even my corgi. I’m such a sucker for bags big enough to lose myself in, and this one is a must have.

ACORNS KEEP FALLING on my head
The weather in Brooklyn has just begin to cool off. Soon the days will be getting shorter, it will be dark when I head into the office in the morning, and darker when I leave at night. I have always loved this time of year. The air seems crisper (even in Manhattan), coffee tastes better, and scarves become a staple of ever ensemble. I ran across lilfishstudios recently and fell in love with her handfelted acorns. I love the juxtaposition of natural elements with an handmade twist. These little guys would look great sprinkled around the house.
