WE GO TOGETHER like mac and cheese?

Loving these little paintings and prints from Bishop Art. Some of “history’s” most famous pairs immortalized on canvas for eternity. Okay so it’s not really that serious, quite the opposite actually. Choose some of your favorite duo’s, maybe mac and cheesestrawberries and cream, bacon and eggs? These little guys would be perfect for that mini gallery you’ve been working on, or even in a kids room. Either way they are sure to put a smile on someone’s face.

YOUR FAVORITE CULT MOVIES inspired your favorite artists

There is an awesome show going on over at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles. The concept behind the show, cult films. I have pulled together a few of my personal favorites from the show, in no particular order. If you happen to be in the LA area I would definitly head on over and check this show out, before it comes down on August 8th. You can see the rest of the pieces here.

THE SECOND LARGEST AQUARIUM is breathtaking

I saw this video and just had to share it with you. This is the second largest aquarium on earth in Japan. I know quite a few people who are anti aquariums and anti zoo, and I can understand their reasoning behind that. I however believe that there are so many people who would never learn about these creatures if it were not for these institutions. I think its a way to explore nature and learn something new, and allow people to respect the wild, most of the time without leaving a big city. It’s one thing to read about something in a book, and another thing to be able to see some of these endangered creature up close and personal, not everyone has the money or time to travel to see these creatures in their natural habitat, but that shouldn’t prevent them from learning all they can about them. That’s just my thought.

DRESSED UP OR DRESSED DOWN these hairpins look lovely

I’ve been searching for some hairpins the last few weeks. Nothing really as jumped off the page at me yet. I know exactly what i want but no one seems to make them. Ha maybe I should invest in some supplies and make them myself. I did however come across these georgeous hair pins by LuLuSplendor. Sold in little sets of 3, these Swarovski encrusted hair pins and simply stunning. I love the little details and the extra patina that goes on so many of them. They will surly add a little sparkle to your hair without making you look like you just stepped out of a story book, unless of course thats what you are going for. These hair decorations would look great for a day in the park, or a walk down the aisle.

THESE STUFFED TOYS will kill you with cuteness

I wish i had someone to buy these for, aside from myself. (Ladies, if you invite me to your baby shower you will be getting one of these as a gift.) I don’t normally get all gushy but these amazing creatures from talkproof have me kind of giddy. I really think these little guys should be on cuteoverload. I mean look at that expression on edoiley’s face, how can you not love it. I propose a talkproof giftbasket for the next birthday party of anyone under the age of 11. Okay maybe under the age of 45.

{SUB} URBAN EXPLORATION embroidery

I wanted a new outlet for my little drawing that I find myself doodling so I decided to try my hand at embroidery (because i really new a new project like i need a hole in the head). So I drew a very simple little phrase and got to embroidering it last night, below are the results. I am going to make this into a little change purse just because. I learned a few things, the most important being i need to draw a little bigger next time because small embroidery is hard…especially when you miss a hole and have to back track. I’m excited to create more.  Maybe I’ll bring a few with me when I do the SOWA market in August.

INTERACTIVE INDIA INK and the song that matches it perfectly

Spanish band Labuat’s has an interactive video for Soy Tu Aire. I don’t want to ruin it for you but I will tell you it’s beautiful. You are the director of a fluid ink line that reacts to the music in ways you never thought possible. It’s beautiful and relaxing. So turn your speakers up and enjoy (wait for the play button and then set off on your magical journey.) When you some to the end you can replay your video and watch your creation unfold.

Don’t forget there is still time to enter the upstatefancy contest, just tell me your favorite summer song in the comments on this post.

SUPER FUN ILLUSTRATIONS you can use everyday

I love everything from LukaLuka. Her illustrations always put a little smile on my face. It’s nice to Anthropomorphic characters that are still believable, I don’t think I would be caught off guard if one of the animals from her city mug was sitting next to me on the subway. If I ever decided to collect plates my first purchase would definitely be from lukaluka, in the meantime I have my eye on that mug.

PLUSH SOUP and the plants you can’t kill

Matt and I have quite a few plants that are doing quite well this year, and quite a few that didn’t make it. The basil we planted is quite a trooper and keeps bouncing back even when it looks like it’s on it’s last leg, And our strawberry plants are currently yielding a crop of 3 strawberries so we are pretty excited about that. I just don’t think either one of us has a green thumb, we are however really good at taking care of our corgi, so thats a gold star in my book. I’m sure you know some friends like us, the ones who love having plants but just can’t seem to keep them going for a month or more. Well Plushsoup has the perfect solution.

Check out these amazing plush plants. You don’t have to water them or even keep them in direct sunlight (or partial shade depending on the variety). With these little faces how can you keep from smiling with one of these guys on your window sill. You won’t even have to pay the neighbors kid to come over and water it while you are on vacation this summer. Plushsoup also has some other nifty little critters available for adoption. I really think this would make the perfect gift for that favorite somone headed off to college for the first time in the fall.

BRIGHTEN YOUR SPACE with mr. fox and mr. raccoon

I’ve been looking for little pick-me-up’s this week for my walls. Something to put in the office that will doll the place up and make me giggle a bit when I see them everyday. I think I may have found it! These adorable prints from Makibas are just plain fun. I love the vector illustration look to them, bright vibrant colors filling in large flat spaces. I can’t stop smiling when I look at them. She also has quite a few other fun illustrations up in her shop, definitely worth checking out.
