Matt and I spent the afternoon checking out the classic car show in our new Maine home of Old Orchard Beach. I had my eye on an old wagon that was a bit out of my price range but I had a great time day dreaming. There is just something about old cars that really resonate with my design sense. It’s all about the pinstripes, bullet lights and pretty script typography because they just don’t make cars the way they used to.

You can pick up a new friend over at My Plastic Heart between now and May 31st to be entered to win some other awesome stuff from Noferin. If I were you I would act fast because these little guys will sell out fast!

AND AND… and I want these
Love these two completely different ampersands from Veer and House Industries, respectfully. The ampersand on the left is a lovely wood brooch and the one on the right is a iron bookend. I wouldn’t mind having either one of these graphic design themed lovelies.

THE INFINITE usb port
I love this concept design by Gonglue Jiang. As laptops get smaller we also lose the number of USB ports. I know that I have to unplug my cooling pad to plug in my camera, but perhaps those day would be over with the Infinite USB ports. The daisy-chain idea is a very interesting concept, and could power a few devices when the first usb device was an exertanl power supply. The only flaw I see is the stress that would happen without proper support on the chain of ports. This could eventually damage the internal motherboard. But I love this idea!

REDESIGNING the clock
I’m so amazed when people just completely redesign the way we look at something. When you think clock you either see in your mind digital flashing numbers, or a circle with two or three long sticks that rotate around the circle. If you want to be different and extraordinary you need an Aspiral clock handmade by the designers Bespoke in London. These spiral based clocks contain a single ball that tells the time while the spiral encasement rotates throughout the day. It really is cool to watch, so jump over to their site and check out the video!

A BOOK for your macbook
Love these laptop cases from Twelve South. Such a classic look for a very modern machine. Best of all they look pretty darn padded in case you are anthing like me and a little rough on hi-tech devices.

AN EXTENSION CORD that’s not ugly
Check out this prototype for a built in wall extension cord, the rambler socket. A great concept designed by Meysam Movahedi. Reminds me a little of the wrap around hose caddy we used to have in the backyard. I really just love this idea, simple and uncluttered.

GAMA-GO floats to the top
Admit it. You had a floaty pen when you were a child. It was something so magical, like a snowglobe that actually had a function. Well the awesome crew over at Gama-Go have created a new line of floaty pens that would look awesome in that empty cup on your desk. For a limited time if you but the complete set of six you get two for free. So the next time someone asks to borrow a pen you won’t have to worry about breaking up the set.

BURNED FURNITURE you will never throw away
The work of Cecilia Galluccio is in a word, stunning. I love seeing a traditional craft taken to a whole new level with a modern design sense. Cecilia markets her work under the moniker of Burned Furniture but these are pieces that will become instant heirlooms. She burns each of her designs freehand into the wood so no two works will ever be the same. If you are ever looking for a housewarming gift that will make the new home owners jaw drop, look no further. These are sure to be the first thing you grab if your house really was on fire.
