VINTAGE EYEWEAR you’ll love to wear

If you wear glasses, you have to check out Vintage 50’s Eyewear ( some of their pieces are from the 60’s but hey, who’s counting). Some of their frames have a little wear, but most of them are fresh from the vintage optometrists office. For those ladies, and gents who want to add a little bit of vintage to their wardrobe, or add a fresh pair of specs to their already sexy librarian ensembles, this shop does not disappoint. Pick up the perfect pair and then head on over to your eye doctor and get a new set of lenses, so you can see how dapper you look in them!

Letterpress cards with a punchline

I saw these simplistic letterpress cards from Sapling Press and could not stop chuckling. Every one of them is just the right amount of humor, not too silly, not too sassy, just perfect. And of course the best part is the impeccable beauty of the letterpress print. Stick one of these guys in an envelope and brighten someone’s day or stick them in a frame and display a few above your desk. Gosh I really do love these!

FERM LIVING is ready for spring

I love browsing the new products at Ferm Living as they always have such pretty photo styling. Of course, my new favorite item is their little wood studios. These guys are made of wood and come in a variety of colors and sizes. While the site shows them lovingly adorning the walls they would look amazing lined up on a shelf or even a modern mantle.

And if you are looking for something a little more mainstream, Ferm Living always has some very unique vases that would be perfectly at home anywhere. If you are looking for a new unique gift, Ferm Living never dissapoints.

All of their goodies are just super cute, I can’t wait to see what’s next!

a mini world around your neck

These miniature figure by Klimbin, hang perfectly suspended around your neck. I love the idea of bending down to tie your shoe and having a little strong man still perfectly upright. Of course my favorite is the little men riding bicycles. I know i have weddings on my brain, but these would make really cute bridesmaid gifts, or even a fun piece to wear at the reception.

BACK FROM VACATION

I’m happy to say we Matt and I just returned from a very relaxing vacation. I am also very pleased to report that while we were enjoying the sun and blue water, the sun also came out here in Maine and melted quite a bit of the snow. While it’s not quite as warm here as it was in Mexico, I know spring is right around the corner!

PRETTY IN porcelain

Professional book binder Abby Seymour and Jewelry artist Katherine Wheeler create beautiful pieces for their line Golden Ink. A mix of hand crafted porcelain shapes and fanciful drawings the two creatives are a match made in heaven.

Every wearable inch of their work is created by hand, and fired in their own little kiln, which means each one is a little different and remarkably unique. Their work would make anyone swoon and is sure to gather a few compliments from complete strangers as well!

welcome to the new upstatefancy

I decided at the end of last year that it was time to give the blog a facelift. I sketched out a few ideas, made a few revisions and came up with the design that you see here now. But of course this would have never been possible without my amazing fiancé Matt. His web skills always amaze me, and help make my flat designs a reality. So I hope you love the new design as much as I do, and I hope you find it easier to navigate and interact with.

A TRIBUTE TO JOHN HUGHES at gallery 1988

Today I am waiting patiently for the fed ex truck to arrive with the newest addition to my art collection. As soon as I saw the matching prints, inspired by pretty in pink, illustrated by Jessica Deahl I knew I had to have them. I’m not sure where I’m actually going to hang them yet, but isn’t that half the fun of an art collection?

If you haven’t seen the work in this amazing John Hughes tribute show, hop on over to the gallery 1988 site and take a look. Or of course if you are in california, get in your car and see them in person, then feel free to gloat! There really are some amazing originals like the few above by, John Rozum, Israel Sanchez and Kelly Vivanco. I love tribute shows and gallery 1988 always has the best ones, west coasters I hope you take advantage of that!

MODERN MINIMALISM say that five times fast

Maridee studio is making some beautiful modern etchings. The starkness of the black ink on white paper evokes an almost zen like feeling. At first glance i thought for sure this was the work of a swedish artist, but Marta, the designer behind this work is based in Spain. Her work is so easy to look at, I could picture these prints hanging alone or in little bundles in the bedroom, or really anywhere you need a calming atmosphere. Word on the street is she is also creating some home textiles ( I’m hoping for pillows) that will be in her etsy shop very soon. It’s amazing how just one color can evoke create such a lovely image.
