Well it’s actually quite a while until Crafty Bastards (over 2 months away). But I am so excited to be invited to be part of this amazing indie craft show. This will be the farthest I have ever traveled for a craft show, but some awesome people have reminded me that the leaves will be changing and the drive from Maine to Washington D.C. will be beautiful. Hope I will get to see some of you there!

It’s been sort of radio silence around here for the last couple weeks. Matt and I enjoyed our trip to Maine and found a great space that we will be calling home for at least the next year. I’ve been busy getting ready for a wholesale show as well as packing up the peppersprouts shop and all of our belongings. I can’t wait to see where the year takes us, but I can tell you this much, there will be many lobster rolls and beer evenings at the Portland Lobster Company this fall. I love outdor seating, great food, bands and a place where the pup can hang out under the table.

I just saw this on springwise and had to share this with you. How cool is this! Reflective lace, also known as LFLECT can be sewn onto just about anything, or even worn on its own. This is such a jump from those big reflective strips on those old L.L.Bean backpacks. You can get it in a variety of colors and with or without little mini bicycles. You could be the safest, and coolest kid in school!

Matt’s parents were in town this weekend so we decided to head over to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. I have lived in Brooklyn for 4 years and have actually never been there before (it’s a shame I know). This place is simply beautiful. I always worry about going to “guidebook destinations” in the city because I don’t like being in large crowds, but aside from the indoor areas we were pretty much alone in the gardens. It was such a peaceful escape from the everyday city life and I’m planning on going back sometime in the next few weeks to explore the areas we didn’t get to see.

Matt and I have made the mini trip to Delaware for a couple days to see one of my sisters graduate from high school. Last night instead of our usual mandatory dinner at Dogfish Head we went to The Cultured Pearl. Located right on Rehoboth Avenue, this place has great food and an amazing atmosphere. There are little Koi ponds throughout the indoor seating area, but the kicker is the roof. The roof has clusters of little pagodas of tables that are all floating over a Koi pond. It felt so tranquil with the amazing view of the beach area, the water ripples and the amazing breeze. If you are ever in the area, you have to check it out! Photos by Kaszeta.

I’ve been using paint chips from Home Depot to display my brooches at outdoor craft fairs for the last few summers. But this pales in comparison to the new Sherman Williams TV ad by the amazing people over at Buck. They have animated an entire world created only with paint swatches. Seriously you have to check out the commercial to believe it.

Check out Fluid Forms, a new interactive custom map inspired shop from designer John Briscella. Have a pair of stainless steel earrings made to commerate your hometown. Or perhaps a beautiful wood bowl that showcases the typography of your alma mater. Maybe a map clock so you always know what time it is in New Zealand. On Saturday I received a call from an old friend that I haven’t seen in about a year. It’s not because we live so far away from each other there really is no good reason at all for the time lapse in our friendship. We met up in Central Park, with Matt and Einstein and spent the afternoon walking around and enjoying the cooler weather. We came across these two birds at the boathouse, whom at first glance looked to be fighting. Turns out the smaller one was squawking at the larger one to feed it, which of course it did numerous times. They then hung out with us and seemed to be enjoying watching the boats pass by almost as much as we were.

On Sunday evening the world will say goodbye to Sawyer, Kate, Desmond, Jack, Ben and Not Locke for the last time ( I suppose). Even though the series will be over, that doesn’t mean that you can have a few things to remind you of this amazing show.
