I saw this trailer today and had to share it with you! There is a new movie that is based on Kathryn Lasky’s Guardians of Ga’Hoole books. I actually have never read the books but they look amazing. The trailer looks stunning and I am sure this is going to be a tear jerker! Have any of you read these books?

FINDING LOVE in paper hearts

Matt and I finally sat down and watched Paper Heart last night. We both loved it. It’s not often that a love story, or rather a story about love, comes across as real. The simplicity of the story combined with amusing anecdotes from everyday folks made for a sweet but far from saccharine tale of falling in love, or at least falling in like. If you are looking for a romantic movie that won’t have your eyes filled with tears and even your boyfriend will like the definitly get in on this Charlyne Yi and Michael Cera non-chickflick. And for a little paper heart of your own I recommend this beautiful garland by Allie Ruth.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for reading upstatefancy. Don’t worry there is still time for one last find. I’ve been hunting around flickr for photos of Danbo and came across this one by ExcoMedia. Thought this would be a great way to end the year, something simple and serene.

This year has been amazing and I can’t wait to share even more with you in 2010. I will be taking off tomorrow and returning January 1st with the winner of our Holiday Gift Guide Giveaway ( you still have time to enter). I want to wish those of you in the states a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy your friends and family and some delicious food. I know some of you are planning on doing some heavy shopping on Black friday as well. Please be safe and respectful to your fellow bargain hunters and especially to the employees who are doing their best to make the biggest shopping day of the year a safe and happy one. A Nintendo Wii or a GPS unit is not worth getting hurt over. I do hope that many of you will forgo the bigbox stores this year and instead shop from local makers, mom and pop stores, and check out the world of handmade goods springing up all over the place. But of course if your reading this blog you already know that. Take the handmade pledge and start shopping.

This oversized floor furniture looks just like a sleeping bear, but don’t worry it’s perfectly safe to cuddle up on him and read your favorite book.
