I had an amazing time at Art Star Craft Bazaar this past weekend. The weather was wonderful, the people were friendly and my booth neighbors were amazing. So today I bring you one of my personal favorite from the festival, Found Studio.

Found Studio is the work of an amazing artist, Kacey Buchanan Stafford. Her mixed media collage paintings come in a variety of sizes and each one is created on a wood “canvas” so they are ready to hang as soon as you get it home. I can’t even begin to describe the incredible texture each piece has when you get to see it up close, they are just stunning. Found studio also has some really awesome shirts, brooches, magnets and of course the signature ceramic bacon and eggs. I came home with a set of these beauties and Couldn’t be more excited about hanging them on the wall. If you are in the baltimore area and want to check out the work for yourself they will be at the “Pile of Craft” show on June 26.

I love this instalation by designer Oki Sato (studio nendo). These beautiful ceramic pieces focus on the story of growing furniture. It’s something I have never thought to deeply about, but all furniture pieces evolve from previous works. As the designer states… “A stool grows a backrest, and becomes a chair. When an armrest sprouts from it, it is an armchair. The stool grows sideways, and becomes a bench, or lengthwise and becomes a lounge chair, or even a bed.” I love the simplicity of these building blocks of craftsmanship.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend. We have about 2 feet of snow in Brooklyn and it’s still falling. This morning we took einsetin through the park and as he bounded through the snowbanks it reminded me how snow days felt as a child. That extra special day where you didnt have to go to school and instead made snowmen with the neighbors and trolloped through the woods looking at animal tracks in the white powder. In brooklyn it’s a little diffrent I think this print by Lauren Castillo gets it just right.
